Here are just a few items that may be useful to make up a herbal first aid kit. Please feel free to add your suggestions here too!

Implementing a Daily Protection Plan

As you start your day, take a few minutes to ground, cleanse and protect yourself. This is especially important if you are a "sensitive" who attracts, like a sponge, surrounding energies and vibrations. The following are examples that you can use, but feel free to use any methods that you feel comfortable with.

I've just read "Practice of Magic" by Draja Mickaharic. Easily obtained new or S/H from Amazon. It really is a brilliant introduction to the different types of magic, e.g. ceremonial, elemental, natural (herbal) amongst others. Easily understandable and with advice for the would-be magician, (It's not as quick as you think). He also provides exercises and suggested books to get you moving in the right direction. All in all a joy to read, and I shall get myself geared up to start ...

No much smaller

A finch?

No smaller.

I don't know. What colour is it?

Sort of black and yellow, with little wings and six legs.

Do you mean a wasp?

Yes, that's it !

I'm sorry sir but this is a pet shop. We sell animals, fish and birds but not wasps.

Sacred Celtic Trees and Woods

To the Celts and many other peoples of the old world, certain trees held special significance as a fuel for heat, cooking, building materials and weaponry. In addition to this however, many woods also provided a powerful spiritual presence. The specific trees varied between different cultures and geographic locations, but those believed to be "sacred" shared certain traits. Unusual size, beauty, the wide range of materials they provided, unique ...

He was a medical doctor, immunologist and bacteriologist who developed a successful practice in Harley St London at the beginning of the 20th Century. He became disillusioned with the allopathic medicine of that day and felt that it was becoming counter productive to the body's natural ability to heal itself.

Santa's Wisdom Teachings

…A Pagan Yuletide Story

Five minutes before the Winter Solstice circle was scheduled to

begin, my mother called. Since I'm the only one in our coven who

doesn't run on Pagan Standard Time, I took the call. Half the people

hadn't arrived, and those who had wouldn't settle down to business

for at least twenty minutes.

"Merry Christmas, Frannie."

The underlying energies of Yule

The earth has been withdrawn inside herself. Winter brings the hardships of cold and shortness of daylight. Very little outer growth has happened, but deep within the earth, roots have been growing, bringing stability and nutrients to the plants and the trees. New buds are slowly forming on the trees and bushes and deeply buried bulbs are beginning to send up their first hardy shoots. All of nature has slowed down, waiting for the energy to change and ...

Poppet is an old fashioned term of endearment between a man and woman in the days when marriage was, if not popular, at least the norm.

It also refers to the doll or wax image used when directing a spell at another person, usually of a negative nature, although not necessarily so.

So am I supposed to stick pins in my wife to get what I want?

Doreen Valiente in "Witchcraft for tomorrow" states that originally witches broomsticks were actually fertility poles with a phallus carved on the end. In order to avoid persecution in times of trouble, the "end" was covered in twigs to look like a standard broom.

Sounds reasonable, but although she is a very knowledgeable writer, she didn't have as much information about witches as we have today.

Which makes me wonder, what sort of brooms do modern witches have ?

Have just finished "The Triumph of The Moon, A History of Modern Pagan Witchcraft", by Ronald Hutton. 1999 OUP. It really is an excellent read. It's a historian's research into the historical roots of the religion, from the various threads current in the 1800s to the recent creation of Gardnerian Wica and the subsequent developments, more or less up to the present day. He is both informative and fair, and isn't dismissive of the beliefs.

Acupressure is often called acupuncture without the needles. Instead of needles, acupressure involves the application of manual pressure (usually with the fingertips) to specific points on the body.

According to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, the body has vital energy called "chi" or "qi" that flows along invisible lines of energy flow called meridians. There are thought to be at least 14 meridians connecting our organs with other ...

The earliest known use of the pentagram dates back to around the Uruk period around 3500BC at Ur of the Chaldees in Ancient Mesopotamia where it was found on potsherds together with ...
