Introduction to magic

I've just read "Practice of Magic" by Draja Mickaharic. Easily obtained new or S/H from Amazon. It really is a brilliant introduction to the different types of magic, e.g. ceremonial, elemental, natural (herbal) amongst others. Easily understandable and with advice for the would-be magician, (It's not as quick as you think). He also provides exercises and suggested books to get you moving in the right direction. All in all a joy to read, and I shall get myself geared up to start ...

Yet another book I picked up going cheap in the Works.

"Secret Wisdom" by Ruth Clydesdale, 2009. It begins with the Orphic mysteries in Greece and ends with W B Yeats, and shows the thread between the two including the neo-platonists, Persian magic, Renaissance magic, Alchemy, Dante, Blake and not forgetting the various Occultist and groups of the 19th and 20th century.

Well written and in sufficient depth for you to appreciate the ebbing and flowing of occult ideas through ...

E Books

How do you get on with E Books? Love em or hate em? I have several e books and enjoy reading them in PDF format as I can adjust the text to a comfortable size and I can read them on my laptop or desktop pc (having fibromyalgia means holding large books for prolonged periods hurts my hands)

If anyone has any ideas for setting up a swap of ebooks let me know, this forum wont allow uploading of files due to it being a free forum but maybe some other site would work? I found several good ...

Grow Your Own Drugs - James Wong

I bought this book hoping for some useful information about using herbs for healing and have found it to be very useful, the directory of herbs and their uses is helpful and there are also recipes, instructions for making tinctures, salves, teas and decoctions amongst other things! I have a few books on herbs but this one is the most straightforward and easy to use! I missed the TV programme but heard great things about it and the book has been a brilliant addition to my collection!

I am just over halfway through Soul Retrieval by Sandra Ingerman at the minute, it is a very interesting book about the shamanic practice of soul retrieval as a form of healing. I also just finished Psychonavigation by John Perkins and found the book interesting it was informative but not really good for teaching you about the methods, I have several other of his books to move onto though that are more in depth so I will keep you all posted when I get round to reading them lol
