Colour Therapy is a truly holistic, non-invasive and powerful therapy, suitable for all – Adults, Children, Babies and animals, and works well with many other therapies and orthodox medical treatments. Colour therapy dates back thousands of years; evidence of this can be found in ancient texts from India, China and Egypt. All we need to do is to heighten our awareness of the energy of colour and it can enlighten and transform our lives.

Colour is simply light of varying wavelengths. These wavelengths form the frequencies or vibrations of energy that is used in Colour Therapy. This light energy affects all living cells (as we all know, without light all living things are affected). Used in the right way, these different frequencies of light, i.e. colour, can have a profound and healing effect on all creation, human or otherwise. It is a well know scientific fact that everything has its own vibration/frequency, and that includes US!

You do not have to be ill to benefit from colour therapy, as we are all striving towards wholeness and perfect health.
Colour Therapy is used to balance energy, aid creativity and learning, release blocks and alleviate many physical, emotional and mental conditions. Colour therapy also helps people to understand their needs for certain colours, and show them how to use these colours for healing, relaxation, inspiration and protection.

Colour treatments can speed up recovery after an illness or an operation. Hospitals in both the UK and America are now using certain colours for the decoration of the wards to speed up recovery, with very positive results.

Understanding Yourself with Colour

Some of us love yellow, some of us hate orange. We all have our colour preferences.

Your colour preferences can tell people a good deal about you. Colour choices can indicate where there may be an imbalance of colour which can highlight a potential problem; whether emotional, physical, mental or spiritual and also gives indications of personality issues which may need to be addressed.

Colour Therapy aims to balance and enhance our Chakra’s – the body's energy centres, by using the seven colours of the light spectrum, which can help to stimulate our body's own healing process.
Each of the seven main colours of the spectrum resonates with one of the main seven chakras.
Each of the spectrum colours is simply light of varying wavelengths, thus each colour has its own particular energy signature. The energy relating to each of these spectrum colours resonates with the energy of each of the seven main chakras of the body.

If you can imagine the chakras/energy centres as a set of cogs/wheels, they are rather like the workings of a clock or an engine; each cog /wheel needs to move smoothly and at a similar speed for the clock/engine to work properly. Thus good health and well being is achieved by a balance of all these energies (or the smooth running of the cogs/wheels).
Colour therapy can help to re-balance these 'wheels' by applying the appropriate colour to the body and therefore re-balance our chakras.
A Colour Therapist will help you to understand your Colour preferences, and indeed your need for a certain colour or colours.

As mentioned before, colour is simply light of different wavelengths, and each colour has its own specific wavelength and vibration. These wavelengths resonate with energies in different areas of the body. As we absorb colour energy not only through the eyes but also through the skin and the electro magnetic field or aura, Colour Therapy can be used on the body in a number of different ways. As with any therapy, each therapist may have his or her own 'style', however, a number of common methods used are:
• The placing of colour silks on the body
• The directing of coloured light on to the body
• Solarised water
• Meditation with colour
• Colour breathing

What to expect.

The first consultation is normally longer than subsequent visits since time has to be allowed for a full discussion of the reason for the visit and, not least, time should be given for you to relax and ask questions.
During the first consultation, through discussion, we can assess the appropriate course of treatment and discuss the different methods available to suit that you. We will also explain how colour can be used by you in your every day life as an endorsement of the treatment you are receiving.
A consultation should be a comfortable and relaxing experience.

“Colour should be a part of our everyday life, not just something we experience for an hour or two with a therapist or something you have done to you. Colour is all around us everywhere. This wonderful planet does not contain all the beautiful colours of the rainbow without reason. Nature and its colours are not simply here by chance, everything in nature is here for a purpose. Colour is no exception.
